Bags in Bloom

This bag was released as part of Prada’s ‘Trembled Blossoms’ project.

For this project Miuccia Prada collaborated with James Jean, an illustrator from Los Angeles. He provided a mural for the New York Prada store which, along with the backdrop he provided for the SS08 Prada show in Milan, was then used in Prada’s designs that season. The inked drawings depict a lush landscape of flowers and nymphs that combines influences of Art Nouveau, Liberty, Aubrey Beardsley, and Hieronymus Bosch. The Jean print was used on two sizes of bag which were made of delicate deerskin leather. This so-called ‘Fairy Tote’- the larger size- was considered that season’s ‘It-Bag’.

On permanent display in the Museum of Bags Amsterdam.
